Promethean Flipchart Library for Algebra: Earthquake Magnitude
An earthquake is an example of a seismic wave. A wave can be modeled with a trigonometric function. Using the TI-Nspire, students link the amplitude to an exponential function to analyze the dramatic increase in intensity resulting from minor changes to magnitude.
Key concepts: exponential functions, trigonometric functions, composite functions
Each Flipchart includes:
- Nearly 20 minutes of video content
- Teaching notes
- Overview of key math concepts
- Hands-on, technology-based activities that use the TI-Nspire graphing calculator or the Geogebra software.
Format: Promethean Flipchart. Requires Active Inspire software.
